Reality TV…Up Next!!!

Up next on the slate for the ever expanding world of reality t.v. are '90s female hip-hop greats, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas of TLC and Sandra “Pepa” Denton of Salt-N-Pepa. Slated to premiere in 2010, both ladies will star in their own show in a quest for love.

Chilli’s series will focus on her life as a single mother and her journey toward finding a man with the help of relationship expert Tionna Smalls.

After four years of celibacy, Pepa is now in pursuit of love. Every week she will meet with three of her closest female friends who also happen to be single to discuss the ups and downs of her journey.

If you’re wondering if the shows will be one in the same, don’t fret. VH1’s executive vice president of original programming and production, Jeff Olde, says, The shows are different. The Pepa show, I think, gives us a window into the real conversations women have about their lives and relationships. With Chilli, it's breaking down why this gorgeous, successful woman is still single and pushing her to try new things and push her boundaries."

Interesting…who knows, maybe they’ll both get a second season for the wedding planning!

Power Moves: Ludacris to launch new Cognac

Atlanta rapper, Ludacris, is set to launch a new cognac called Conjure from France.

Hip-Hop icon Chris "Ludacris" Bridges has launched a new cognac, banking on his success on the record charts to shoot his latest project to the top of an extremely competitive business. With the inevitable paparazzi and chauffeur-driven Bentley, the star created a buzz at the normally staid Vin expo, the wine and spirits trade show in Bordeaux this week. His fan base spreads across America, Asia, Europe and Africa. Exactly the market Kim Hartmann, owner of Birkedal Hartmann cognac, hopes to capture with Conjure, custom blend for the hip, urban market. He's prepared to ship as much Conjure cognac as the hipsters are prepared to buy at $34.99 per bottle. (AFP)

In a recent statement to press, "It's not just me attaching my name to it," he explained. "Whenever I involve myself in a business, I submerge myself in it...Hard work pays off."

Ludacris is steady defining his young mogul status. Rappers need to peep game. Like he said, with hard work, all things are within your reach.

Boys and Girls ...here comes Vick

We guess it's safe to assume that the construction job, paying $10 a hour, wasn't adding enough value in the life of former quarter back Michael Vick nor anyone else. So...Vick is now headed over to the Boys & Girls Club.
Vick will work at several Boys & Girls Clubs in Hampton Roads,Virginia to assist with health and fitness initiatives. Vick spent his childhood years at the Boys & Girls Club in Newport News and thus is expected to add more value helping troubled teens.

“We were disappointed by some of his recent actions and
decisions but believe he has learned from these experiences and is now conscious of his obligations and responsibilities as a prominent sports figure that impacts and influences our kids,” Steven Kast, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula explains in a written statement. A Legend, An Icon, the Undisputed KING of POP

R.I.P.
Michael Joseph Jackson
1958 - 2009

Somber, surreal, unbelievable.... We have lost one of, no, the most influential person of most of our lives. Young, old and all those in between either loved him or hated him, but his genius was world renowned and contributions to this world will leave an unmistakable mark.
STACKS Magazine sends condolences to the Jackson family and to all that loved and appreciated Michael Jackson's unprecedented talent and success.

Per CNN...He collapsed at his residence in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles, California, about noon Pacific time, suffering cardiac arrest, according to brother Randy Jackson. He died at UCLA Medical Center.

I think Rev. Al Sharpton said it best...."To say an 'icon' would only give... a fraction of what he was."

Shaq to the Rescue?!

While the deal has not yet recieved the final approval... looks like Shaquille O'Neal is indeed headed to Clevland. Finally, some help for Lebron!!!

Cleveland will send Ben Wallac and Sasha Pavlovic to Phoenix for the presumptive future Hall of Famer. Sources said the Suns will also receive the 46th pick in Thursday's NBA draft and $500,000.

The trade gives the Cavs a player they've coveted since February. The Cavs obviously were unhappy with their ability to defend Dwight Howard in the playoffs against the Orlando Magic and bringing Shaq into the fold should help.

The Cavaliers also were in talks with New Orleans about obtaining Tyson Chandler. The Cavs believed O'Neal was the better option because he has just one year left on his contract, and will not eat up cap space that will enable them to pursue players such as Chris Bosh in next summer's star-studded free-agent class.

You better build a squad then Clevland!!! Can't wait til next season!!!

Think Twice Before Downloading Music

Things just got deep (and expensive) for individuals who download music from the internet....

According to the Associated Press,

A federal jury in Minneapolis has ruled a Minnesota woman violated several music copyrights in the nation’s only file-sharing case to go to trial.

The jury found that Jammie Thomas-Rasset “committed willful violation” of the copyrights on 24 songs. The jury awarded the recording companies $1.92 million, or $80,000 per song.

It was a retrial for Thomas-Rasset, who was also found, in 2007, to have illegally shared music files. The new trial was ordered after the judge in the case decided he had erred in jury instructions.

The second outcome was worse for Thomas-Rasset. In the first trial, the jury awarded recording companies just $222,000.

Woman Puts Choke-HOLD on Cali Bank Robber

After reading this story, we all should agree that the WWF may need to bring back G.L.O.W. This lady could easily rack in thousands with the moves she got. LOL

According to the AJC:
Cyndi Orel worked as a police officer for 25 years and never caught a bank robber. She was apparently saving that hobby for retirement. The retired Long Beach police officer foiled a bank robbery at a grocery store Saturday when she put a 220-pound bank robber in a chokehold until he passed out. Orel is about 5 feet 7 inches and 128 pounds.

"I never caught a bank robber," Orel said Monday at press conference held by the Orange County sheriff's office. "This was pretty exciting just because of the nature. You don't have time to think about it. You just react."

Orel was at the Mission Viejo Albertsons store when a bank employee shouted that a man with a gun was trying to rob the branch. As another shopper scuffled with the robber, Orel put a sleeper hold on him, blocking blood to his brain and making him pass out twice. Later, they discovered the man did not have a gun.

Orel credited the man who helped subdue the robber, but sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said she was "being modest because if it wasn't for the control hold that she placed on him he would not have been rendered unconscious."

Orel said she learned the move at the police academy 28 years earlier, and only used it a few times during her years on patrol. She retired in 2006 but said she keeps active by running laps and lifting small weights."
