5,4,3,2,1...'Brooklyn's Finest'

‘Brooklyn’s Finest’, a new crime drama starring Ethan Hawke, Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, and Wesley Snipes is on its way to theaters. Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), the film takes you on the journey of three cops whose different career paths lead them to the same deadly location.

Here’s the rundown:
In the course of one chaotic week, the lives of three conflicted New York City police officers are dramatically transformed by their involvement in a massive drug operation. Burned out veteran Eddie Dugan (Golden Globe-winner Richard Gere) is just one week away from his pension and a fishing cabin in Connecticut. Narcotics officer Sal Procida (Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke) has discovered there’s no line he won’t cross to provide a better life for his long-suffering wife and seven children. And Clarence “Tango” Butler (Oscar nominee Don Cheadle) has been undercover so long his loyalties have started to shift from his fellow police officers to his prison buddy Caz (Wesley Snipes), one of Brooklyn’s most infamous drug dealers. With personal and work pressures bearing down on them, each man faces daily tests of judgement and honor in one of the world’s most difficult jobs.

Check out the trailer:

Mark your calendars…Brooklyn’s Finest hits theaters March 5!!!

Tune In: The Michael Vick Project

BET will premiere its new docu-series tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 10PM/9C. Instead of shining light on the lives of females (i.e. Keyshia Cole, Monica, Tiny and Tonya), former Atlanta Falcon Michael Vick will get a chance to show the world how his life has been before and after the drama in The Michael Vick Project.

According to BET:
In this 10-part series, produced by DuBose Entertainment, MV7 Productions and Category 5 Entertainment, cameras will not only capture the NFL star’s return to football after a two-year prison term stemming from his association with a dogfighting ring, but they will also focus on much of his life prior to that turning point. Viewers will be given an unfiltered and personal experience of Vick as he restores his past and starts fresh for the future – not only for himself, but for his family and fiancĂ©e, Kijafa.

“Ugly Betty” which premiered fall 2006, now has only eight episodes left. The network says that fans will be satisfied with how the series concludes its run.

'I Can Do Bad All By Myself' Tops DVD Charts

Off the big screen and now on the shelves, Tyler Perry’s film ‘I Can Do Bad All By Myself’ continues to make big stacks. Selling 1.1 million units in its first week, the film has debuted at #1 on the DVD charts.

“I Can Do Bad…” which starred Taraji P. Henson, Tyler Perry, Adam Rodriguez, Mary J. Blige and Brian White was released in theaters last fall and grossed $51 million domestically.

Perry’s next film ‘Why Did I Get Married Too’ will hit theaters in April and his big-screen version of the popular play ‘For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf’ is set to be released later this year.

All we can say is that Tyler Perry and his successful partnership with Lionsgate be it film or television are…STAACKIING!!!

She’s Got Something to Say

Music veteran Shirley Murdock, best known for laying DOWN the vocals to hits such as ‘As We Lay’ and ‘Husband’, has decided to lend her voice to R&B once again. Having spent nearly the last two decades performing in traveling plays and recording gospel music, Murdock makes it clear that her return to the genre is not a “flip-flop” between gospel and R&B.

She simply says,"I've got something to say again. It's still going to have substance and be faith-filled. So I'm not changing who I am, but its just time to encourage a different audience."

Songwriting and production for Murdock’s upcoming project which she plans to start recording in February will be overseen by one of R&B favorites, Kelly Price and producer Shep Crawford.

This should be GREAT!!! We’ll keep posted on a release date!

H & M Pushes the Envelope

There’s been quite a bit of buzz surrounding H & M pushing the envelope and including, of all things, skirts, in their Men’s 2010 spring/summer collection. I understand the argument that H & M is a European company and men in skirts is cultural norm, but I did not have to see the skirt to conclude that I would rather not see any man in a skirt. Aside from the skirt the collection has some nice offerings.

Take a look:

"We Are the World" for Haiti

In the wake of all that’s going on in Haiti and in honor of the earthquake victims, producer Quincy Jones and singer Lionel Richie are teaming up to bring back a special 25th anniversary edition of the classic charity song “We are the World”. Talents from all genres will join the two in Los Angeles on Feb. 1 to record a new version.

According to Billboard, the artists that have been invited to participate include Natalie Cole, Usher, and John Legend as well as all of this year’s Grammy nominees and participants. Billboard also says not to be surprised if Wyclef Jean, Sting, Fergie, Alicia Keys, and Justin Timberlake join in. The song’s co-author, the late Michael Jackson will also be included.

Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich will produce the song and like the 1985 version, the new version will be turned into a single and video.

Here’s the video of the 1985 version.

Awwww…We Are the World, we are the children!!!!
